ATATURK  PEACE CULTURE CONFERENCE

IV IFLAC: PAVE PEACE
INTERNATIONAL PEACE CULTURE CONFERENCE
Bursa, Turkey, (9-11 October 2003)

 

1) The Conference expressed its sincere thanks to the organizers of the IFLAC- TURKEY ATATURK Conference, Dr. Husamettin Olgun, President of the Conference, and to Prof. Ada Aharoni, for giving new multicultural directions to IFLAC, especially in the cooperation with key governmental leaders, including His Excellency the Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Mehmet Aydin, and Minister of Culture Dr.Halman Talaat.  Special appreciation was expressed to Dr. Talaat for introducing us to the Human and Peace Values in Yunus Emre's Poetry - Turkey's National Poet of the 13th Century. The Conference has decided to adopt Yunus Emre's message of love and peace among people and nations. This message was also that of the great leader Ataturk to his people, and to the world, when he proclaimed: "Peace in the country means peace in the world."

 

2) The Conference has decided to establish an IFLAC Pave Peace Foundation. Dr. Ernesto Kahan, Vice President of Iflac, together with Vice President Ambassador Safwat Ayoub, will explore the possibilities of establishing this foundation.  The sponsorship of institutions and possible funding will be investigated, and presented to Prof. Ada Aharoni and to the IFLAC Board for approval.  

 

3) The 5th IFLAC PAVE PEACE Conference will be held in Chennai, India, in 2004, and it will be organized by Dr. Sethu Kumanan, the President of IFLAC in India, in cooperation with Dr. Ada Aharoni, the Founder and World President of IFLAC. The Conference will be called the "Mohatma Gandhi IFLAC Conference," and it will address in particular, the role of the new generation, to propagate and advance the Global Culture of Peace. An active international  participation of youth and students is expected. Dr. Kumanan, will seek the collaboration of international embassies in India, as well as to global institutions such as the UN, UNESCO, the World Bank, and the European Community,  to promote this important conference.

 

4) The conference paid tribute to the U.N and UNESCO for proclaiming the year 2000 as the “International year for a Culture of Peace” and the decade 2010 :“The international decade for a culture of Peace and Non-Violence.”

IFLAC called upon all institutions, governments NGO’s to join forces to promote a world beyond war and violence, and to Promote and strengthen Peace NGO’s and peace culture research for the creation of a world beyond war.
